My Italy....has always been in pursuit of la dolce vita the sweet life....the food and wine of Italy and its many regions. La dolce vita includes the many wonderful and interesting people I have met along the way, regional Italians who prepare their food and tell their stories. The owners of charming villas and locandas. The characters that run the tasty l'osterias and trattorias who welcome the weary traveller in the many regions across Italy.

Travel agents brochures are limited to suggesting uncharacteristic hotels in capitol cities. My Italy is more concerned with regional charm...to be found in every village and town throughout Italy. And quaint accommodation matched to outstanding local cooking, the real treasures of Italy, la cucina authentico !!!
Many of the places I mention are staffed by nonnas and untrained cooks who offer dining experiences that are hard to forget.

There are 20 regions in Italy. After 25 trips (spanning many years) I have visited, eaten in, travelled through and enjoyed 19 regions.
