The Alpine Valleys, King Valley and Beechworth regions are the leaders in producing Italian varietal wines in Australia. Our wine list reflects the quality and passion these Italian and Australian winemakers share; creating world class Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Marzemino, Barbera, Pinot Grigio, Arneis, Moscato, and Fragolino wines.

If you are looking for commitment in this region then look no further than Michael Cope-Williams at Gapsted Wines. Michael enjoys working with unusual European varietals as well as the French classics. His newly released Sangiovese is stunning, as well as the Sauvignon Blanc or the consistent gold medal winning Cabernet Sauvignon (1998, 1999 and 2000). Also try his Saparavi, from the Russian grape.

If its red you seek then Castagna Sangiovese gives most of the Chainti sangiovese a real run for their money! And right next door is the legendary Giaconda Wines with their superb range of Chardonnay's, as well as Shiraz & Pinot Noir. Across the road is the Savaterre winery, producing beautiful Chardonnay & Pinot Noir. And a few metres along the same road is a winemaker for the future; Amulet Wines and her excellent Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Barbara. Opposite is Golden Ball winery with a knock-our Rose' and their blended Gallice'.  We call this micro region the 'golden mile of winemaking'.

Speaking of excellence, the Michelini Wines Marzemino is typical of many of the great Italian wines. Understated fruit, minimal oak, a great with food. Michelini Wines has only just revamped their entire offerings with a full run of Italian table wines. The first winery in Australia to go 100% Italian varietals.

We cannot leave out the King Valley. Salvatore Politini offers a stunning Sauvignon Blanc. And Fred Pizzini has created a Nebbiolo that is little shy of perfect!! He is also doing great things with other Italian varietals.  And amongst the best wineries in our region is Dal Zotto with their lovely Prosecco, as well as other Italian styles.

The Villa is the first restaurant in Australia to offer a Sangiovese library, which showcases 35 sangiovese from Tuscany and around Italy and Australia.  Such greats as Poggerino, Vigna Messieri, Sassaciaia, Conti Costanti, Cepparello, Castello di Alma, Branciaia, Tignanello, Mastrojanni and many more.

Villa Gusto also offers an impressive range of other Italian wines including Verdicchio, Soave, Catarratto, Gavi di Gavi, Contessa, Arneis, Aglianco and Barolos.

La dolce vita!
